Team London Bridge 2011-2016 proposal: A BID for Renewal

In April 2006 Team London Bridge began it’s five year term after local businesses decided to take action and establish a formal way of looking after their immediate area and representing their community.

Businesses voted in favour of creating a
London Bridge Business Improvement District (BID), with a majority of 71% by number and 78% by rateable value (turnout 50%), and Team London Bridge manage the BID on behalf of levy paying businesses.

Already we are four years into the term and it’s time for local businesses to decide whether they want to continue making an active contribution to the commercial and social wellbeing of the area through being part of a BID community.

A BID for Renewal 2011-2016

Team London Bridge’s portfolio of proposed services for 2011-2016 has been carefully compiled after a long consultation process with levy paying members of the BID.

A BID for Renewal (2Mb) highlights the success of the past five years and explains our vision for a second BID term for another five years. These achievements have included:

The next five years promises to be even more productive as the range of activities and potential for private sector involvement in key projects and services increases. Our five main services proposed for 2011-2016 are:

Responsible Business (CSR, green business initiatives inc. recycling scheme)
Enhanced Street Scene (extra street cleaning, pocket plazas, greening, construction support)
Place Promotion (promote businesses, enhance visitor experience, DealCard, Olympics)
Safe & Secure (extra security, reducing fear of crime)
Creating Connections (networking opportunities, venue promotion, community development)

All of which would not happen if a majority ‘no’ vote is returned.

The ballot - make your vote count

All business rate paying organisations occupying a property with a rateable value over £10,000 are eligible to vote. However, these organisations must have nominated an employee as their official BID voter in order to take part in the process. There is no minimum turnout required in the ballot. Of those voting there must be a simple majority voting ‘yes’ both in terms of numbers of business and by rateable value.

Every organisation within the London Bridge BID boundary is part of the Team London Bridge community, that's over 270 business with over 30,000 employees. Together we can make a big difference to the future of our area.

Key dates are:

23rd August 2010 - publication of the ballot notice
1st October 2010 - first day of the ballot
4th November 2010 - last day of hte ballot
5th November 2010 - BID result announced
1st April 2011 - BID term two goes live

Additional Police patrols are part of the BID service

Without a majority ‘yes’ vote in October 2010 all of the services delivered will come to an end.  We hope we can count on your continued support, to take London Bridge through the development of the Shard, the London Olympic Games in 2012 and the redevelopment of London Bridge station.
